I always thought it was weird that you’d just trust somebody to name a star for you.
Seriously, who could oversee those records for long enough for it to matter? How could you imagine it would be permanent?
Nations can’t even name the continent they live on and expect it to stick.
That’s exactly how I’ve always felt about those things. It’s totally meaningless. Same thing for the people selling land on the moon or mars. I really like the swirly abstract background in this one. It almost looks like a horizon but the way it breaks apart makes it surreal. Very nice.
Going to try some pretty different art stuff in upcoming strips – probably some really horrible Walt Kelly homages, but I want to work in better inkwork with more broken and incomplete lines and shapes (was doing a little with the background here)
Another good one, really enjoying these longer Sunday strips!
When it comes to these star naming services, I agree that it doesn’t matter. It’s a nice sentiment but hardly worth the cash.
Thanks! Yeah, I always wonder what sort of enforcement they could possibly have for their registered ‘names’.
